This guide walks through the fastest way to get GovernDocs working on a WordPress site. By the end, you should have at least one policy added and displayed on the front end.
The process for adding a policy is the same as adding all the other document types, just with slightly different fields.
Step 1: Install and activate GovernDocs
Install the plugin from the WordPress admin area and activate it. Once active, GovernDocs adds the policy management features you need to get started.
Click here for how to install GovernDocs.
Step 2: Create your first policy
Go to the Policies page under the GovernDocs menu in the WordPress admin and then click Add New Policy.
Enter the policy title, complete whichever fields you want to use and upload the main document using the Add File button.

Step 3: Fill in the main policy details
GovernDocs is designed around structured policy information. Depending on your own requirements, this may include the policy title, status, version, dates, description, file attachment and other related information.
Complete the fields that are relevant to your organisation’s process, then publish the policy.
Step 5: Add the policy to a page
Create or edit the page where you want the policy to appear. Copy the shortcode that is displayed beneath policy title and insert the shortcode into your page.
Once the page is saved, view it on the front end to confirm the policy displays correctly.
It should look similar to the below:

Confirm that the title, description, metadata, and file link are all showing in the way you expect.
If your site uses custom styling or a theme with strong design rules, the appearance may vary slightly from one site to another.
Next step after setup
Once your first policy is live, the next thing to do is standardise how your organisation enters policy records. Using the same fields and publishing pattern each time will keep the policy library cleaner and easier to manage.
